GRANITPLAST

Granite decorative façade

Characteristics

Excellent adhesion. High wear resistance.
Granite decorative façade is intended for surface protection of vertical walls in conditions of outdoor use It features excellent adhesion and high wear resistance. Ready to use. Simple to maintain.

Substrate Preparation

Substrate has to be hard, dry, free of dust, grease and other impurities, and all preliminary works on façade surfaces has to be completed (installation of sills, mounting of gutter brackets, mounting of air-conditioner brackets and similar). Cement and cement-lime mortar should dry for at least 1 day for each mm of thickness (T=20°C, rel. humidity 65%), whereas concrete surfaces should dry for at least one month. Uneven surfaces should be levelled.

Hot water jet or steam wash is recommended to perform additional cleaning. Surfaces contaminated with algae and fungi should be remediated before the façade is applied. (treat the entire wall surface with ALGOSTOP, not only the spots with algae and fungi).

Before applying GRANITPLAST, the wall should be impregnated with the PODLOGA UNIVERSAL primer of the shade that is resembles most the shade of GRANITPLAST. PODLOGA KVARC product is recommended for smooth surface.

The primers represent, at the same, time a bridge binding the substrate and the applied material, creating a stronger bond and reducing consumption of material.

Application

Before using GRANITPLAST should be mixed using an electric mixer, and, if necessary, diluted with max. 1% of water (max. 250 ml per 25 kg). It is recommended to test the colour on a small surface before the start of works to check the shade in dry condition. It is applied using a stainless trowel evenly in layers of the thickness of cca.2.3mm for large grain (1.8 mm), and cca. 1.6 mm for small grain (1.2 mm).

Material should be evened and smoothed using a stainless trowel immediately after application, making sure that there are no gaps between the grains. Smoothing is always done in the same direction. The tools should be cleaned from time to time during work. Optimal air and wall temperature during application and drying should be from +10°C up to +25°C, and relative humidity should be under 80%. Use protective sheets during application of material. Do not work in rain, fog or in direct sun. Wash tools with water immediately after use.

GRANITPLAST is not recommended for protection of horizontal and wear surfaces just like for application on surfaces that are not protected by appropriate entablatures. Note: Application and drying of GRANIPLAST at lower temperatures may cause film forming problems (dissipation, insufficient hardness, pale and dark stains and similar) If GRANITPLAST is applied and dried at higher temperatures or in direct sun, the resulting consequences include appearance of micro cracks that cause faster degradation, i.e. shorter service life. In this case the working time of the material is shorter and, as such, it makes application more difficult (visible joints and similar).
