KERAFIX P
Adhesive for exterior ceramic tiles
Characteristics
For exterior use.
Construction adhesive for gluing wall, floor and façade tiles in indoor and outdoor exploitation conditions. Made on the basis of cement, mineral fillers and additives. EN 12004-C2TE improved flexible cement -based adhesive with reduced slip and prolonged working time.
Substrate Preparation
Substrate has to be hard, dry, free of dust, grease and other impurities. Before the adhesive is applied, the substrate should be wetted with water or impregnated, if the surface is water-absorbent, with product.
PRIMER KONCENTRAT (dilution ratio: PRIMER KONCENTRAT water=1:3).
PODLOGA KVARC product is recommended for smooth surfaces.
Application
Use a 5 kg bag (25 kg) of KERAFIX P per cca. 1.2 l (6 l) of water and mix using a slow-speed mixer until a homogeneous compound is obtained. Leave such material to rest for about 5 minutes and then mix it again. The compound’s working time is around 2-3 hours. Absorbent tiles should be soaked in water before application. Non-absorbent tiles do not need to be soaked in water because that increases slipping and reduces adhesion. In case of installation of new ceramic tiles over old ceramic tiles, the old ceramic tiles’ surface should be roughened first to ensure as good bond as possible.
KERAFIX P is applied using a notched trowel with notch width of 4 to 6 cm on substrate, after which tiles are laid that should be pressed strongly to obtain at least 60% of adhesion of glue to the tile and at least 90% for outdoor ceramic tiles. The fitting of tiles may be adjusted within 10 minutes after application.
If a film is formed on the surface of the adhesive, it should be removed and a new layer of glue should be applied and the tile laid on such glue. After 24 hours, easy walking on the tiles is possible just like grouting using the selected shade. Expansion joints are to be filled with permanently elastic putty. Optimal air and wall temperatures during work and drying should be from +5°C up to +25°C. Avoid working in direct sun, wind and rain. Use protective sheets. Wash tools with water immediately after use.
